She stopped texting after our third date. What happened?
Three good dates, easy conversation, plans for a fourth. Then nothing. No fight, no red flag I can point to — just silence.
Three dates. Not casual ones, either — we talked for four hours on the second one, and by the third she was already telling me about her family, her weird childhood dog, the apartment she was thinking about moving into. We made loose plans to see a movie the following weekend.
Then, nothing. I texted the next day, normal, no pressure — "had a great time, let me know about Saturday." Seen. No reply. I told myself she was busy. A day became three days became a week.
I went back through our conversations more times than I'd like to admit, looking for the moment I said something wrong. I couldn't find one. That's almost the hardest part — there was no fight, no obvious red flag, nothing I can point to and say "that's when it went wrong." Just three good dates and then an ending that never got announced.
A friend told me it probably wasn't about me at all — that people sometimes get scared right when things start feeling real, and disappearing feels easier than saying so. I don't know if that's true. I'll probably never know. I've stopped checking if she's read my last message. Mostly.
